My Custom Blue Frogman Project

Posted the 19th day of February in 2008 by Riley.

I finally assembled all the pieces for my first custom Frogman project. I started out with an original Blue TC Frogman.

"Hawaii North Shore Surf" GW-200TC-2DR

It's one of my favorites, but I thought it could look even better with a blue bezel that matched the colors of the straps. I left the original band and bezel untouched, so I can always switch them back.

I ordered this extra band that's the same color blue as the band, but lacks the special Triple Crown "Hawaii North Shore Surf" logos. The Gold paint doesn't match the blue and white motif, so it's got to go.

Spare Frogman Blue Resin Band

I had to soak it in a pan of Goof Off for about an hour before the gold paint started to come off. And even after that it took a good bit of careful scrubbing to completely remove the gold paint. After removing the paint on the band, and giving it a good wash, I have a nice blue band without any text.

Now it's time to take apart all the pieces that surround this fine module.

Disassembled Frogman

For my bezel I chose this dark blue one from a GW-205K-2JR. It was originally paired with a white band, but the blue resin perfectly matches the spare band I chose.

Blue Bezel from a 2005 I.C.E.R.C. Frogman

After a little bit of work, I have the Frogmanl put together again with all the new parts.

End Result: Custom Blue Frogman

I'm really pleased with the results. The lighting in the photos doesn't quite do the blue color justice, but I think you get the idea. This is definitely my new favorite G-Shock.

More projects coming soon.
