My GW-9200 Riseman Has Arrived

Posted the 6th day of July in 2008 by Riley.

I received my new Riseman, and I have to say that I'm very pleased with it. This model slowly won me over, as I learned more about it, and started to see more photos popping up online. I have to give it a strong recommendation after giving it a couple days of wrist time.

The band has the same basic design and dimensions as a GW-400 Silencer, but slightly thinner, with a lightly textured strip down the middle of the outside, and a new gripper on the end to catch onto the strap holder. The bezel is uniquely complex in shape, making it quite visually interesting, despite the flat black color and plain gray text. The instruments protruding on each side are well-balanced and add a spot of color, with the silver chrome and bright red on opposing sides.

The functions of the module are very appealing; I've spent a good deal of time looking at the barometric pressure graph in regular time mode. The current time is displayed consistently in every mode. I won't go into all the details that the inch-plus thick manual covers, but suffice it to say that the GW-9200 has it all. It did a good job of tracking a low pressure storm front that rolled in yesterday evening.

It's well balanced like a traditional screwback on the wrist, and it's surprising light for its large size. But it's not nearly as lopsided feeling as a Frogman. The bezel isn't that high around the LCD, and the crystal is very wide, but it has a solid feel throughout and a well sculpted design.

Overall, it's a striking addition to the Masters of G lineup. The two module variants offer something for everyone, and at $150 USD it's hard to say no. It's different enough that you really have to wear one to get the full impact of it. Here's some photos I took to get a better look

I got mine too a week ago and I'm so please with this one that I left aside my PRW 1300 for a while.

Nice. I don't see how you could not like the new Riseman after wearing one for a while.
