Surfrider x G-Shock Collaboration Sneak Peek

    Posted 31 October / 2008 by Riley

An inside source has just leaked some information on an upcoming Surfrider x G-Shock collaboration G-5500. This limited edition G-Shock is still in the design phase, but it's probably going to look similar to the below photo. It looks like a dark blue band and bezel, with white and light blue accents. The four white buttons are really something different. It has a custom backlight that displays the Surfrider logo. It's also supposed to have a custom engraved caseback and clasp. There's no word yet on the exact price, but a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Surfrider Foundation to help clean and protect beaches. It should be coming out in the Spring of 2009. Stay tuned for more updates.

The face looks a little different than current models. The "Tough Solar" text is moved to the the top middle of the face. And it has the SIG text for an atomic G. Is this maybe a new atomic model despite the lack of "Multi band" text?

    I like it.

    Hi GSW,

I noticed something similar too the KIKS TYO collab models too. I think the final version is not the atomic model, so the face will be a little different. The module looks like a fake module as you find them on dummy cell phones. Overall this is a nice looking G-Shock. The navy color is perfect for summer surfing.

    Cheers,

    Sjors

I'd be surprised if the final version was atomic. It would probably bump the price up too much. I'd really like to see some better photos of this one. A glossy navy blue could look really interesting depending on the lighting (like the Crazy Colors).
