Casio Japan has announced two new Protrek watches. Both are analog/digital models with Tough Solar, Multiband 6 atomic sync, compass, altimeter and barometer. The PRW-5000 comes on a resin band and has a retail price of about $624 USD. The PRW-5000T has a metal bracelet and a retail price of around $786 USD. Both will be released on March 1st and will have a monthly production run of 3,000 units.

That looks like a nice successor for the PRG-60T A pity the Twincept screen has been replaced by a small sub-display, but the display and compass neddle seems to be sufficient for this watch.
It looks great, but much like the near $1K Frogman, I'm not sure we need a $700-$800 Protrek. Cool, but not especially useful.
