Sjors has written a new 50Gs feature on the G-7800B-1DR G-Shock. This watch was released in the beginning of last year. It's an innovative new design with a display that's different than any other G-Shock. It has a matrix display that can be customized in several different ways. Check out the full writeup for how it all works.

looks really slim from the side

Like the DW-5600. it is indeed a slim watch. If you want a slimmer G-Shock, you should search for the G(W)-056. It is the thinnest G-Shock ever made. It is only 10 mm in height.
