For BASELWORLD 2010 Casio has published a press release summarizing their plan for reinvigorating the world's watch market. This statement comes from Yuichi Masuda, who is Director, Senior General Manager of Casio's Timepiece Product Division. The preview we saw of the upcoming 2010 G-Shock lineup shows that Casio is definitely backing up their words with innovative new designs.

Casio is proud to exhibit again this year at BASELWORLD. As always, we are delighted to present our newest ideas and most innovative watches to the world at this preeminent event.
With the struggling global economy, the watch industry also faces challenges, for instance slow sales of high-end products due to restrained consumer spending. Despite the difficult environment, however, watches with superior cost performance — those which provide value that outpaces their price — are gaining ground with customers. Once again, we are seeing how vitally important it is to provide added value.
Undeterred by the current market, Casio continues to develop its watch business, leveraging three key strengths with the mission of “Moving Time Forward”. We believe we have three distinct advantages: creative product development that makes the most of our advanced digital technologies and functional exterior design; strong, individualistic product brands; and our fine tradition of innovative marketing. Making the most of these advantages, we clearly differentiate our watches from all the rest by giving them added value, and are boldly investing to transform today’s tough market conditions into new business opportunities.
At BASELWORLD 2010, our “Faces of the Future” exhibit features some of our most innovative face designs ever, introducing new products from our distinctive G-Shock, Edifice and other brands.
Again this year, we will conduct our one-of-a-kind “Shock the World Tour” of exciting media and celebrity events, aiming to ensure the whole world gets caught up in the G-Shock sensation.
At Casio, we are determined to help reinvigorate the watch market with the kind of unique products, stand-out brands, and inventive marketing methods that you have come to expect from us. Once again, we’re going to leave behind conventional limits and reinvent the watch. After all, creativity and contribution is what Casio is all about.
