Can altimeter add up accumulated skied vertical?

Can the altimeter on the new Casio PRW-5000 Protrek automatically add up the total vertical accumulated during a day of skiing, or a day of bicycling, or a day of hiking up and down hills? The phrase accumulated ascent/descent is used in describing a lot of Casio Pathfinder watches, but closer examination reveals that measurements are taken at very long intervals and that it may not be suitable for fast sports such as skiing, bicycling, etc. With every new watch, I am hopeful that this might change, ... but I've been waiting for years, and Casio doesn't seem to care for skiers, snowboarders, and cyclists. Instead, they keep pushing on us manual memory setting (for which we simply don't have time to fiddle with on the mountain). So, is the new PRW-5000 Protrek any different in that respect?

I don't have one, but maybe the manual will have the answers?

I think the long intervals may be to save battery life. Casio seems to always sacrifice features for longer battery life.
